The Republic of Serbia has become a full member of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), which will enable the participation of members of the academic and scientific community of Serbia in various activities and competitions of this prestigious international organization.
Among other benefits, equal opportunities will be offered for financing projects of scientific excellence, participation in regular summer schools for students and graduates, scholarships for doctors and postdoctoral students, as well as for financial support for scientific specialization.
Full membership of Serbia in CERN is expected to level up the quality of scientific research in the country, enable its access to the newest scientific equipment and technologies, as well as to intensify the transfer and exchange of knowledge and experience with colleagues from European countries.
The decision on Serbia’s full membership was made by the resolution of the Council of CERN. It will be formally confirmed after the ratification of the decision by UNESCO and National Assembly of Serbia.
