Faculty of Physical Chemistry

Physical chemistry has been taught at the University of Belgrade since 1903, while Faculty of Physical Chemistry became independent institution in 1990. The faculty accommodates teaching and scientific research. Faculty of physical chemistry organizes three academic study programmes and one professional study programme. Undergraduate academic studies lasts four years and granting, upon their completion, 240 ECTS points. Master academic studies lasts one year and granting, upon completion, 60 ECTS points. Doctoral academic studies lasts three years and granting, upon completion, 180 ECTS points. Specialist professional studies “Forensics” lasts one year and granting, upon completion, 60 ECTS points.The studies are organised in such a way that the knowledge and skills are obtained through lectures, consultations, seminars, and laboratory work. Specific to our faculty is the fact that students get to do individual laboratory work in a great number of courses. Graduates of Physical Chemistry get employed in a wide range of institutions and industry, at research and development jobs. A degree in physical chemistry gives opportunities for other careers as well, which include education, but also marketing, or business. Scientific research of the Faculty includes a wide spectrum of disciplines, from purely fundamental ones to the applied, such as: spectrochemistry, electrochemistry, radiochemistry, chemical kinetics, chemical thermodynamics, quantum chemistry, biophysical chemistry, physical chemistry of materials, environmental chemistry. About 1550 students have graduated from the Faculty, out of which more than 200 have obtained PhD degrees, and more than 400 have obtained M.A. and M.Sc. degrees.
