University of Belgrade

The University of Belgrade is the oldest and largest university in Serbia. It consists of 31 faculties with around 90,000 students, as well as 11 research institutes, the university library, and 7 university centres, most of which are located in the capital city.

According to the latest ranking of universities around the world, better known as the "Shanghai ranking list", the University of Belgrade has been ranked among the best 400 universities in the world.

Faculties of the University are organised in 4 groups: social sciences and humanities, sciences and mathematics, medical sciences, and technology and engineering sciences.



Faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities

• Faculty of Economics – offers study programmes in economics, business management, statistics and related disciplines.

• Faculty of Law – provides legal education at all levels of studies.

• Faculty of Orthodox Theology – offers BA, MA and PhD programmes in theology.

• Teachers Training Faculty – provides education for teachers and pre-school teachers, as well as a PhD programme in teaching methodology.

• Faculty of Security – provides courses in safety engineering and forensics.

• Faculty for Special Education and Rehabilitation – offers study programmes in special education, rehabilitation, logopedics and related fields.

• Faculty of Political Sciences – focuses on education and research in the fields of political science, international relations, journalism and communication studies, as well as social policy and social work.

• Faculty of Sports and Physical Education – provides academic and applied courses in physical education, recreation and sports.

• Faculty of Philosophy – offers academic courses in history of art, ethnology, anthropology, philosophy, archaeology, andragogy, pedagogy, sociology, psychology and history.

• Faculty of Philology – provides study programmes in Serbian language and literature and over 30 foreign languages and cultures, library and translation studies and related disciplines.

Faculties of Medical Sciences

• School of Medicine – provides integrated and doctoral studies of medicine, and a number of academic and applied programmes in nursing, public health and related disciplines.

• Faculty of Dentistry – offers integrated and doctoral studies of dentistry and applied studies in related disciplines.

• Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – provides education in veterinary medicine at all levels of studies;

• Faculty of Pharmacy – provides integrated and doctoral studies in pharmacy and a number of specialist study programmes in related disciplines.

Faculties of Sciences and Mathematics

• Faculty of Biology – offers study programmes in biology, ecology, environmental protection and physiology.

• Faculty of Geography – provides education in geography, demography, tourism and spatial planning.

• Faculty of Mathematics – offers study courses in mathematics, informatics, astronomy and astrophysics.

• Faculty For Physical Chemistry – offers courses at all levels in physical chemistry and applied specialist studies in forensics.

• Faculty of Physics – offers study programmes in physics, both theoretical and experimental, and meteorology.

• Faculty of Chemistry – provides academic education in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry.

Faculties of Technology and Engineering Sciences

• Faculty of Architecture – provides education in the fields of architecture and urban planning.

• Faculty of Civil Engineering – offers study programmes in civil engineering, geodesy and geoinformatics, water management and environmental protection, and related disciplines.

• School of Electrical Engineering – provides education in electrical and computer engineering.

• Faculty of Mechanical Engineering – offers academic programmes in mechanical engineering at all levels.

• Faculty of Agriculture – offers education that covers all aspects of agricultural production and food technology.

• Faculty of Mining and Geology – provides academic study programmes in geotechnical environmental and mining engineering, geophysics, hydrogeology, oil and gas, geology and related disciplines.

• Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering – educates students in the fields of transport and traffic.

• Technical Faculty in Bor – is the only faculty of the University of Belgrade located outside the capital city, offering courses in mining and metallurgical engineering as well as engineering management and technology.

• Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy – provides academic programmes in chemical and biochemical engineering, textile technology, metallurgical and materials engineering, and environmental protection.

• Faculty of Organizational Sciences – provides education in the fields of management, information systems and software, public administration and related disciplines.

• Faculty of Forestry – offers courses in forestry, landscape architecture, ecology, wood technology and related fields.
