Academy of Arts
Academy of Arts consists of three departments: the Department of Music, the Department of Fine Arts, and the Department of Dramatic Arts.
The Academy of Arts has been an active part of the University of Novi Sad for nearly four decades. Its organization consists of three departments: the Department of Music, the Department of Fine Arts, and the Department of Dramatic Arts. All three departments run 26 bachelor degree programs, and 27 master’s degree programs. As the Academy of Arts prepares its students to rise to the professional challenges of their times, its teaching associates were, and still are, prominent and active artists of different generations. Alongside the educational activity, various artistic, scientific and research projects are being conducted as well.
In order to become a student of the Academy of Arts, one must pass the entrance exam first. During the course of studies, the teaching process is realized most frequently on an individual basis, or in small groups, but also on a collective basis for theoretical subjects. Precisely due to this mode of teaching, a relatively high success rate and a very high pass rate of students from one academic year to the next is being achieved, which, in turn, results in an almost optimal duration of undergraduate studies, and consequently, a high grade average.
Alongside the educational activity at the Academy of Arts, various artistic, scientific and research projects are being conducted as well. These projects gather teachers, associates and students, and they are realized through concerts, exhibitions, theatre plays, performances, symposia, festivals, etc. The majority of these activities are being held at the multimedia center of the Academy of Arts or other venues that the faculty has at its disposal, but also in adequate venues across the city of Novi Sad: galleries, theaters, concert halls, parks, city squares, streets and the like. The projects are often planned in such a way that their realization can be conducted in other cities in Serbia and abroad. Scientific and research projects are realized individually or in groups, and the results are presented in domestic and foreign professional journals and joint publications with the University of Novi Sad, University of Arts in Belgrade, the Matica srpska in Novi Sad and other similar institutions in Serbia.
Many acclaimed artists and theoreticians from the country and abroad have been hosted by the Academy of Arts through the occasional organization of “an open chair” type of guest lectures, or by taking part in one of the projects at the Academy.
