The Faculty of Philology and Arts (FILUM) comprises three schools: School of Philology, School of Music and School of Applied Arts.
The School of Philology is comprised of the following departments: Serbian Language and Literature, German Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Spanish Language and Hispanic Literature and French Language and Literature.
The School of Music consists of the following departments: Accordion, Piano, Flute, String Instruments, Solo Singing, Music Pedagogy and Music in Media.
The School of Applied Arts consists of the following departments: Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Monumental Painting.
The teaching methodology coordinates with the Bologna declaration and the lectures, courses, curricula and syllabi follow the latest trends in education, thus providing efficient studying and significant improvement in higher education.
The Faculty of Philology and Arts (FILUM) is one of the youngest in the family of Kragujevac faculties, founded in 2002 as an independent institution. In 1996, the School of Philology was established as a branch of the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade. In 1998, the School of Music started as a branch of the Belgrade Faculty of Music, and in 1999, the School of Applied Arts as a branch of the Belgrade Faculty of Applied Arts. The Faculty of Philology and Arts presently comprises three schools: School of Philology, School of Music and School of Applied Arts.
The School of Philology organizes undergraduate and postgraduate (master's) studies in Serbian language and literature, English language and literature, German language and literature, French language and literature and Spanish language and hispanic literatures, as well as postgraduate (master’s) studies in Serbian as foreign language (the only master program of Serbian as foreign language in the country). The School of Philology also organizes Ph.D. studies in Philology (language and literature), the first reformed doctoral studies in Serbia, and Ph.D. studies of Serbian language and literature, in cooperation with the Faculty of Philolosphy of the University of Nis, which are the only doctoral studies of Serbian language and literature in Serbia. Finally, since 2009, FILUM organizes two “free courses”: Italian language and culture and Portuguese language and culture.
The scientific research is related to two projects approved by Serbia's Ministry of Science, as well as projects involving some other institutions.
The School of Music is one of the youngest musical departments in Serbia and it consists of the following departments: Accordion, Piano, Flute, String Instruments, Solo Singing, Music Pedagogy and Music in Media. It relies on the large experience of Serbian secondary music education but also provides a range of innovations, which makes it more attractive to students. There are programmes, like Stringed Instruments, Flute and Piano, where students experience a combination of local of foreign pedagogy to create a unique experience. However, our programmes Accordion and Music in Media are unique in Serbia. The programme Music in Media combines musical and media disciplines, enabling students to obtain knowledge and capability for all types of copyright work.
The School of Applied Arts organizes undergraduate studies in Graphic Design, Interior Architecture and Monumental Painting, as well as master's studies in Graphic Design. Applied arts, which are essentially connected with artistic skills and knowledge, are directly connected with the quality of life and industrial production. The market's demands for successful solutions in contemporary design make the products competitive both at the local and international market.
